HUBLOT CELEBRATES THE ART OF FUSION AT HARRODS THROUGH AN EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTING ITS PIONEERING AND AUDACIOUS SPIRIT

Hublot's story began with this motto back in 1980, being the first watch brand to combine gold with natural rubber. Jean-Claude Biver, current Chairman of Hublot and President of the LVMH Group Watch Division, and Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, hold the ‘The Art of Fusion’ motto at the heart of the brand and this now guides the actions, innovations, developments and partnerships, blending the past and the future, the tradition and the innovation.

This is the fourth stop on the “Art of Fusion Tour”, a tour that reveals the stories behind Hublot’s unique design and core specificities: innovative materials and horological excellence. After a stop in Beirut in April and in Kyoto and Macau in September, the Hublot exhibition will travel the world stopping, in Hanoi, Berlin, New York, Praha and Istanbul among other destinations.

Visitors to the exhibition will start their journey into Hublot’s watchmaking universe discovering what makes the brand so unique: its never-ending quest for innovation which has brought so many new and revolutionary materials to life. Using the endless options of nature as an infinite source of inspiration while relying on specialists from its own Metallurgy and Materials Department. Hublot has created its own patented alloys such as Hublonium (magnesium and aluminium), King Gold (gold and platinum), and more recently, Magic Gold. This patented material with magical properties was created by the revolutionary fusion of 24-carat gold and ceramic and is now produced at Hublot’s high-tech foundry at the Nyon Manufacture. Magic gold adorns the case of the Big Bang Meca-10 and is the first scratch-resistant gold, the hardest variety in the world. The Big Bang Meca-10 symbolizes the archetype of the Hublot philosophy: limited to 200 pieces, this unique and atypical watch combines the best of innovation and mechanics.

The exhibition allows visitors to explore the Hublot’s renowned horological know-how, taking a walk around the movements and complications created in-house. Launched in 2010, the UNICO is the brand’s signature chronograph movement. Entirely designed, developed, machined and assembled at the Hublot Manufacture in Nyon, this movement is a fly back chronograph with the famous "column wheel" visible on the dial side, making it unique in the watchmaking industry. Since then, Hublot has launched the Techframe in PEEK Carbon, exclusive to Harrods for the month of October and limited to 70 pieces, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ferrari. Designed by Ferrari, crafted by Hublot: another example of Hublot’s horological excellence, a perfect fusion of the automotive and watchmaking worlds that visitors will have the privilege to enjoy. Beyond its design and incredibly light carbon case, the Techframe is the epitome of fine watchmaking: a Tourbillon Chronograph driven by a movement that was designed and developed by Hublot, with manual winding and a 5-day power reserve.

Embodying Hublot’s astonishing virtuosity and sublime craftsmanship that combine in-house movements with innovative materials and contemporary aesthetics, both the Techframe 70 years Tourbillon Chronograph PEEK Carbon and the Big Bang Meca-10 Magic Gold highlight what has made Hublot First. Different. and Unique. for more than 30 years: The Art of Fusion.
