Despite the fact that Aluminum is the third most frequent element the Earth’s crust and the most abundant metal, it was only discovered in1827. For several more decades, the ultra-light and brilliantly white metal remained an extravagantly expensive specialty. However, due to the fact that its density of 2.7 g/cm3 which is three times lower than that of steel, aluminum was considered as the metal of the future, long before it could be produced economically. Pure aluminum is very soft; for industrial use, it is alloyed with copper, magnesium, zinc, manganese and titanium.
