The tropical tree Hevea Brasiliensis is an extremely important agricultural resource. It exudes a milky sap (latex), the source of natural rubber, a renewable resource. Today more than 90% of the natural rubber production comes from Southeast Asia. Natural rubber and synthetic rubber do not compete, but rather supplement each other. Carbon black is most important, it gives tires- and the bands of HUBLOT watches - their black color. White rubber is obtained by adding kaolin, chalk, silica or talcum powder. Depending on the final use of a given rubber product, more additives are needed.
