Tsavorite garnet is a member of the grossular garnet sub-group. The name of this very vivid green stone is derived from Tsavo National Park, Kenya, where it was first discovered in the early 1970s. Some studies have shown that this stone is apparently 200 times rarer than emerald.
This stone comes primarily from East Africa, more particularly along the Kenya-Tanzania border.
