Mexico City, Mexico. 18 October 2016. Hublot has been a football lover for 10 years now; over this same period, the football world (prestigious clubs, star trainers, football geniuses, the FIFA World Cup and the different European competitions) has been ticking along at Hublot pace.
Hublot has lead the way in the world of football for 10 years and consistently reaffirms its commitment year after year. Official ambassadors and friends of the brand, from Pelé to Mourinho, Shaqiri to Scolari, Roy Hodgson to Alex Ferguson and David Trezeguet are all part of the “Hublot loves football” world. As are clubs: Ajax, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, which between them hold a record number of titles and honours. As Official Watch for the European Championship, Official Timekeeper for the World Cup and “Official Licensed Watch” for the Champions League and Europa League, Hublot is a fixture at the most prestigious competitions and championships. The least that the Swiss watchmaker could do was create a watch for the most popular sport in the world: the Big Bang Unico Retrograde Chronograph.
The “Hublot Loves Football” campaign returned once again to Mexico to commemorate Club América’s 100 years of greatness.
Mr Luis Peyrelongue was the perfect commanding host at this evening celebrating football. We were honoured to welcome Jean-Claude Biver (President of LVMH Group Watch Division and Hublot Chairman), and Ricardo Guadalupe (Hublot CEO).
The standout moment of this unforgettable evening was the official presentation of two special editions of the timepiece: Big Bang Unico Retrograde Chronograph Special Club América Edition (limited to 100 numbered models) and the Big Bang Chronograph Special Club América Edition (limited to 100 numbered models) and available to buy exclusively at Peyrelongue Chronos.
When the presentation had concluded, Jean-Claude Biver was in charge of presenting Televisa CEO, Mr Emilio Azcárraga Jean, with a unique gold edition to commemorate the team’s centenary and the alliance with the Swiss watchmaking brand.
One hundred years on from when the team first formed on 12 October 1916, today we celebrate 100 YEARS OF GREATNESS from a club which has won 36 titles, had some truly world-class players and taken its fans on an emotional journey over the course of the century.
As part of the alliance and to celebrate the first of many centenaries to come, Hublot asked artists working in 2D and 3D, and various Mexican entrepreneurs, to contribute “Retro Centenary” Club América edition footballs. These were all exhibited inside the booth and next year will be auctioned to raise money, and so Hublot continues with its mission and vision to collaborate with and contribute to charitable causes in order to assist different foundations around the world.
