December 05, 2016 [Daytona Beach, FL USA] -- Hublot has always created timepieces with a distinctive design language and this holds especially true for its collaboration with Ferrari, begun in 2011. Each new edition embodies the constant quest for innovation, excellence and performance which unites these two brands. Taking inspiration from the iconic volumes and design of the most recent Ferrari models, the two brands have redesigned the contours of these Big Bang references with the UNICO manufacture movement. And it is on the Daytona International Speedway’s circuit that Hublot and Ferrari have unveiled their new iconic timepieces.

The Finali Mondiali, one of the most celebrated Ferrari racing events of the year, has gathered 6 Ferrari Challenge race categories as well as the “XX” races program seeing the FXX, 599XX and the FXX K competing for first place. During Sunday’s parade, hundreds of Ferrari models, from the brand’s storied history, driven by their owners, exemplify the passion and supremacy of the Prancing Horse brand. Celebrating the end of the race season, the new BIG BANG FERRARI design found unanimous support amongst the drivers.

The best of both worlds

This new design combines Hublot's cutting-edge ideas and technology with Ferrari’s design language. The perfect silhouette and proportions highlight the new architecture of the Big Bang Ferrari, featuring highly functional yet stylish details.

Dial

The minute counter and date window at 3 o'clock are designed like a car’s tachometer and style of the date is inspired by Ferrari’s own speed dial. The Prancing Horse logo sits discreetly at 6 o’clock. At 9 o'clock, the seconds counter is in the shape of an air extractor. The hour and minute hands, which have been completely redesigned, offer improved readability. Instead of being positioned horizontally, the numerals are now positioned in line with the indices, which seem to float above the dial, giving the whole piece a 3-D look.

Case

Forming a subtle yet perfect balance between innovative volume and slender, functional form, the contours of the bezel have been redesigned with countersunk notches for the 6 screws; a more ergonomic form that protects the screws and looks as if taken directly from an integrated control unit

Profile

On the crown side, the case middle features a red line detail, recalling the iconic groove at the rear of the LaFerrari model. The elongated push-buttons are fixed to a rotating staff like the pedals on a car. Marked with the Hublot logo, the crown has a much more integrated and ergonomic crown guard than in previous editions. It evokes the characteristic form of the TPE (Turbo Performance Engineer) set in the centre of the Ferrari dashboard. The other profile is inspired by the styling of Ferrari cars. The name “Ferrari” is emblazoned – yet well integrated – in bright red across the watch’s now iconic sandwich-like case construction.

Movement

The Big Bang Ferrari is equipped with a UNICO movement – the Hublot in-house Manufacture movement that integrates a flyback chronograph with column wheel positioned on the dial side. The oscillating weight echoes the iconic star spoke design of the Ferrari wheel rims, while the main plate, bridges and oscillating weight are all treated with black PVD and can be seen through the dial and sapphire case-back.

Limited edition

The case measures 45 mm in diameter and is available in titanium (1000 pieces), a proprietary platinum-gold mixed King Gold (500 pieces) or a uni-directional carbon (500 pieces) with matching bezel. In reference to the iconic design of the Ferrari seats, the strap comes in black Alcantara on black rubber, with red over-stitching in the style of Ferrari upholstery.
