40 YEARS ANNIVERSARY
“Ricardo Guadalupe would tackle in-depth work to shift Hublot’s production from 90% quartz watches to 90% mechanical watches.”
At Hublot, Ricardo Guadalupe oversees everything. His managerial skills effectively take in a wide spectrum of activities. An expert in product creation, this football enthusiast is also a shrewd marketing strategist. When he joined Hublot in 2004 to assist Jean-Claude Biver in his new challenge, the two men were already well-acquainted. To see them working together is to experience the mutual respect that they have for each other: during the 25 years of their close collaboration, they addressed each other using the formal French term vous. It was this duo that propelled the then-small Hublot company to the ranks of Haute Horlogerie, by endowing it with indisputable appeal, ultimately multiplying its turnover by a factor of eight in four years. During this period, Ricardo Guadalupe would tackle in-depth work to shift Hublot’s production from 90% quartz watches to 90% mechanical watches.
JEAN CLAUDE BIVER
“Jean Claude Biver has instigated profound and life-saving changes for this traditional industry.”
Jean-Claude Biver is a man who has made an indelible mark on the Swiss watchmaking industry, to a degree few other horological heroes can match. The actuality is undeniable: he has instigated profound and life-saving changes for this traditional industry. His "coup de maître", when the Swiss mechanical watch was in its death throes following the advent of quartz, was to take the opposite stance from everybody in the industry, betting on a renaissance of mechanical watchmaking. Thanks to his successful gamble, the entire industry owes him a debt of gratitude. As visionary as he is intuitive, this peerless communicator has risen to countless challenges during his career with great success.
Kylian Mbappé, then the greatest hope in world football, decided in 2018 to join the Hublot family, thus becoming the only active footballer to be a brand ambassador. Both are driven by the same perpetual quest for performance, so the Bondy native fully identifies with the values embodied and upheld by Hublot. The same holds true in the other direction: Kylian Mbappé corresponds in every way to the brand’s philosophy, in that he is unique, first and different. With his reading of the game, along with his speed and accuracy, the French prodigy completely lit up the 2018 FIFA World CupTM, becoming, aged 19, the youngest player to score in a World Cup final since Pelé – also a Hublot ambassador – in 1958.
He has made a permanent mark on the history of world football. Perfectly embodying the accomplishment of childhood dreams, "King Pelé" is one of those rare living legends of the sport who can take pride in having encouraged the ambitions of millions of young people all over the planet. Hublot’s longstanding football ambassador is considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Aged just 17, the Brazilian prodigy wrote himself into the annals of football by becoming the youngest player to ever win a World Cup in 1958. He is also the only footballer to have been a triple world champion with the Brazilian team. Since retiring from sport, this major figure in football has been an ambassador for the UN and UNESCO.
