The evolution of a modern watchmaking icon

Taking the elements that have made the original Big Bang a modern icon in the world of luxury sports watches, the Big Bang Unico writes a new chapter in the Hublot story. And while many of the signature design cues have been retained from the Big Bang including the sandwich case construction in a variety of materials and finishes, the Big Bang Unico is a different machine altogether.

At 45.5mm wide, the case of the Big Bang Unico is slightly larger than the original Big Bang but just as comfortable on the wrist. The entire silhouette of the case has been redesigned, with more angular edges and an entirely satin-finished surface. A feature that stands out from all other Hublot timepieces is the round chronograph pushers, which bring bang of the original Hublot chronographs from past decades.

The signature H-screws have also been rethought on the Big Bang Unico and are visually quite interesting, as they are neither raised nor flat. Rather, the Big Bang Unico’s case screws are done in relief, with polished edges and matte “H’s” that provide a much more three-dimensional aspect.

Offering an original means for the owner to interact with his or her watch, the end pieces of the case feature Hublot’s ingenious quick strap-change system, where the push of a button releases the strap for easy swapping.

Beneath the sapphire glass dial with alternating Arabic and baton indexes with luminescent paint lies the ruthenium-finished proprietary Unico flyback chronograph movement, where elements such as the column-wheel are visible from the dial side of the watch. Developed and manufactured entirely at the Hublot manufacture, the Unico movement features an easy to remove escapement module and boasts a power reserve of 72 hours.
