Witnessing the World Pop Art Leader of the 20th Century

【August 5th, 2016, Beijing】Hublot, the Swiss luxury watch brand, joined hands again with M WOODS to present Andy Warhol: Contact, spreading Hublot’s support and love for art from Beijing 798 Art Zone. Many celebrities and friends from the art and culture community in China attended the grand feast of art, including Mr. Loic Biver, General Manager of Hublot in Greater China, Lin Han, collector and Founder of M WOODS, Mr. Eric Shiner, Director of Andy Warhol Museum, Ms. Presca Ahn, Director of M WOODS, and other collectors.

Expression starts from necessity while art originates from perception. Hublot has partnered with artists with diversified backgrounds from all over the world and continuously creates exquisite art of fusion. HUBLOT LOVES ART landed in China in 2014. Hublot and renowned Chinese contemporary artist Xu Zhen jointly created Eternity – Hourglass of Time, artistically reconstructing the collision between eastern and western civilization, in the meanwhile, becoming the first cross-over partnership between luxury brand and public art. Following this milestone with art, Hublot, as the avant-garde brand in the watchmaking industry, collaborates with various art forms, no matter contemporary art, music or visual art. Walking hand in hand with the leading artists in their respective areas, Hublot courageously creates outstanding pieces of art, enriches and challenges traditional way of thinking, interpreting Art of Fusion to the extreme.

M WOODS is committed to convey the unique angle and standing-point of contemporary art and introducing significant exhibitions of contemporary art with a “globalism”perspective. The idea is a natural match with Hublot. Since establishment, Hublot has never stopped challenging and breaking traditions. The second-time partnership with M WOODS deepens the spirit that HUBLOT LOVES ART. His works were created through new art practices of that time and pushed the boundary of contemporary art then. Even now, the pieces immerse audiences of today with their instant-ness, directness and continuous striking-ness. The pieces in the exhibition this time lead the trend of contemporary art with its ground-breaking and time-crossing spirit: Kiss (1963), Warhol’s film that brings up fierce sense of conflict with its extremely intrusive framing; and Silver Cloud, another highlight of the exhibition where viewers are free to touch and move among the Clouds, making the work one of the earliest examples of an immersive, interactive art installation.

Mr. Lin Han, collector and Founder of M WOODS, commented on the exhibition and the partnership with Hublot, “the pieces radiate a very human, personal, and even poetic quality. This balance and tension is what makes the works so arresting, even now. It resonates perfectly with what Hublot does - fusing a softer artistic quality into mechanical watches.” Mr. Loic Biver, General Manager of Hublot in Greater China, further shared, “as we all know, Hublot is about the Art of Fusion. We respect the tradition but we also innovate the future. We have also been working with and fusing with contemporary art in the world. It is a great honor to present, together with M WOODS, many of the time-defining pieces of the pop art master. Hublot will continue to move forward with its philosophy of Art of Fusion, creating more extraordinary pieces to the world.”
