Hublot Creates A Big Bang In Singapore With Its Largest Pop Up Store In the World!

Staging Up For The First Time – Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling) Against The Backdrop of Singapore’s Prime Shopping District, Orchard Road With International Superstar Donnie Yen

All eyes on the Largest Hublot Pop-up in the world as it officially opened at the Civic Plaza at Ngee Ann City. Towering at 7 metres tall and occupying a massive area of 1,050 square metres, this architectural feat was a hub of excitement.

“Hublot loves Singapore! With the help of our long-time partner and leading watch retailer, The Hour Glass, Hublot’s presence has stayed strong in Singapore for more than 30 years and we are honoured to be part of Singapore’s jubilation as we also celebrate our own success with the iconic Big Bang this year,” says Mr Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.

International action star, Donnie Yen who played the lead role in award winning blockbuster movie - IP Man, officiated the opening alongside foreign and local celebrities, who were in town to celebrate Hublot’s Big Bang 10th Anniversary. Mr Donnie Yen cuts a fitting figure as a distinctive guest star for the evening as he is the archetype of what Hublot stands for in the Art of Fusion – bridging traditional craft such as Wing Chun, a form of time-honoured martial arts with the modern execution of film making.

Present to witness the momentous celebration were some 250 exclusive guests and media from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and China.

Hublot specially created the “Red Dot” Bang to commemorate their 10th year Anniversary and Singapore’s Golden Jubilee. “Little Red Dot” is a universal name for Singapore yet this nation recently concluded its 50th year festivities with much pride and splendour.

Hublot “Red Dot” Bang in Hublonium and Yellow Gold

The “Red Dot” Bang is a 44mm Big Bang introduced in two cases – Hublonium and yellow gold. Hublonium is a unique metal alloy developed exclusively by Hublot combining magnesium and aluminium, making it remarkably light while staying durable showcasing Hublot’s pioneering spirit in the field of material engineering. Naturally, the “Red Dot” Bang Hublonium is produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces, tying it back to 50 illustrious years of Singapore. In the same vein, a limited 10 pieces of “Red Dot” Bang is produced in a yellow gold case, as a tribute to it being the original noble material of all case materials in watchmaking history.

3. Presenting Lucha Libre – Mexican Wrestling in the Heart of Singapore’s Prime Shopping District

A first in Singapore, the heart of Orchard Road is transformed into a veritable wrestling arena with Lucha Libre – a form of professional wrestling that has its roots in Mexico. It is characterised by colourful masks, rapid sequences and “high flying” manoeuvres.

An ocular treat, a magnificent wrestling ring sits in the middle of the pop-up and is undisputedly the highlight. The philosophy of Hublot’s Art of Fusion is evinced in this old Mexican form of wrestling that is steeped in Mexican history and culture.
