In central London, Hublot, Official Timekeeper of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, today celebrated the 100-day countdown to cricket’s greatest competition.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of the Swiss luxury watchmaker, launched a three-metre-high clock at Lord’s - the iconic ‘Home of Cricket’- as the countdown to the event. He was joined by David Richardson, CEO of the International Cricket Council and former South Africa cricketer, and Michael Vaughan OBE, England’s most successful cricket captain of the modern era, and new friend of Hublot.

Hosted this year in England and Wales, the 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup gets underway on May 30 with a match between England and South Africa, with the final set to take place on July 14.  Clocks displaying the countdown to festivities will now be visible in Hublot’s London boutique, situated at 14 New Bond Street in London, and at select match venues in the lead up to the start of the event.

Hublot, the first watchmaker to associate itself with cricket

Between world firsts and patented innovations, Hublot continues to leave its distinctive character on the world of watchmaking, with its motto: ‘Be first, be different and be unique’.

Once again Hublot has demonstrated this philosophy by being the first Swiss watchmaker to associate itself with cricket, just as it was in football when in 2010 it became Official Timekeeper to the Fifa World Cup. The partnership with the International Cricket Council began with the 2015 Cricket World Cup, and in 2016 Hublot became the Official Timekeeper of the ICC World Twenty20, and the ICC Champions Trophy and the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2017.

Hublot is proud to continue its partnership with the ICC in 2019 as Official Timekeeper once more of cricket’s most prestigious international competition.

Michael Vaughan becomes a friend of Hublot

To celebrate this partnership, Hublot is proud to reveal its new friend of the brand: former England captain Michael Vaughan OBE. Leading England between 2003 and 2008, Vaughan won a record 26 Test matches, most famously winning 2005’s Ashes competition between England and Australia, England’s first Ashes victory since 1987. A world-class batsman and tactician, Michael Vaughan remains today one of the most respected and influential commentators on the game.

A Hublot X ICC special edition

To celebrate this new collaboration, Hublot will shortly reveal on its social media channels a preview of the official watch of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. A new special edition modeled around the ICC brand, the watch will be available in a limited series in Hublot boutiques from the start of the event.
