To display its extraordinary power reserve in a unique and innovative way, Hublot has developed a new watchmaking construction where the usual platinum has been replaced by long bridges fixed on either side of a ring used as a basis for the movement. This original approach combined with the skeletonized components gives the Manufacture HUB1201 caliber a tri-dimensional effect and striking depth, on the side of the case or underneath.

By developing its own automatic chronograph movement, Hublot wanted it to be – like all of its creations – the first, different and unique. As the soul of the watch, this movement with an “open heart” reveals its completely re-imagined design, with double clutch system and column-wheel from the dial side as well as a 72-hour power reserve. Its construction of 354 components has been simplified as much as possible to improve reliability and robustness.

Thirty times rarer than gold, platinum is considered to be the ultimate noble metal. It is perfectly chemically stable, resists corrosion and never loses its characteristic silver shine. It also stands out with its high resistance to erosion and entirely hypoallergenic nature. Popular in motor racing, carbon possess unrivalled mechanical qualities. It is ultra-lightweight, resists torsion and stands out with its optimal relationship between weight and resistance. This high-tech material is in the form of a fiber mesh embedded in an epoxy resin. Hublot also uses a 3D carbon where the fibers are woven on three planes. Titanium is extensively used by Hublot, specifically for its lightness. It displays the best relationship between resistance and weight of any material, which makes it an extremely popular material especially within aeronautics. It also stands out with its resistance to corrosion and its inertia in contact with the skin. Hublot only uses high quality, grade 5 titanium, the strongest there is. Once polished, this material retains a slightly bluish metallic sheen.

Hublot exclusively uses a medical grade, non-oxidizing 316L type steel, combining iron as a base metal, chrome for its resistance to corrosion and nickel for optimal mechanical robustness. This stable and durable alloy perfectly withstands all the hazards of daily life. On an aesthetic level, it is easily "decorated"; whether through polishing or a satin finish, it allows for subtle alternating finishes.
