HUBLOT POLO GOLD CUP GSTAAD
After two years of interruption caused by the pandemic, Europe's highest altitude tournament – the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad – made its comeback from 18 to 21 August 2022, to the great delight of its spectators! To the rhythm of hooves and mallets, officially timed by Hublot, the closely-fought chukkers were played, with Team Clinique La Prairie claiming victory as the winner of this 25th edition.
An unmissable event in the summer calendar, the Hublot Polo Gold Cup was once again able to welcome the top international players and their spirited steeds to the prestigious resort in the Bernese Alps. Chaired by Pierre E. Genecand, the organising committee of the Polo Club Gstaad has overcome all obstacles to make the 2022 edition of the tournament happen, after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. A faithful supporter of the tournament since 2007, watch manufacture Hublot is delighted to continue its sponsorship of the event. The competition took place from 18 to 21 August in the elegant mountain setting of the Gstaad-Saanenland airport, which had been converted into a polo pitch for the occasion.
With the breath-taking view as a backdrop, the Hublot Polo Gold Cup stands out by offering a high-level competition in unique surroundings: an Alpine valley nestled at an altitude of 1000 metres. The nearby mountains serve as a majestic frame, showcasing the polo pitch. Such scenery is the epitome of "Swiss Made"… like all Hublot timepieces! The four teams invited to compete, composed of renowned captains and players, confirmed their participation in the tournament. These included Team Hublot, a finalist in the last edition in 2019. On the pitch, each team of four players battled for victory over three rounds: the qualifier on the Thursday, the semi-final on the Saturday and the final on the Sunday. The final saw Team Clinique La Prairie and Team Kielder Agro Uruguay go head to head. Ultimate victory went to Team Clinique La Prairie! The players on the winning team had the honour of each receiving a Hublot timepiece, a Big Bang Original Steel Ceramic model equipped with a MHUB4100 chronograph movement, a manufacture calibre featuring a 42-hour power reserve.
The event also continued off the pitch. Brand Ambassadors and friends of Hublot were invited to join the celebrations. An eminent member of the "Hublot Loves Art" initiative, the famous French storytelling artist and contemporary painter Marc Ferrero created a work of art on the spot in a live painting session during the traditional gala evening. Skipper Alan Roura, ambassador and skier Tanguy Nef, friend of the brand, also attended the tournament, which gave them the opportunity to meet their fans.
“Hublot has not missed a single edition of this fantastic tournament since 2007. The sporting challenge, the top players and horses, the magnificent setting, the relaxed atmosphere – it all comes together to make the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad one of the highlights of summer. We are delighted that the competition could make a come-back this year!”
